Make plans to attend the 21st Annual Chihuahuan Desert Fiesta

The 21st annual Chihuahuan Desert Fiesta is coming up at the El Paso Zoo and Botanical Gardens on September 27th, from 10:30am to 3:00pm.

Enjoy learning about our big backyard in the Chihuahuan Desert through zoo exhibits and discovery tables featuring local organizations and educators. Visitors can expect animal encounter presentations, educational booths and entertainment in the Wildlife Amphitheater.

The original annual event organized by the Chihuahuan Desert Education Coalition (CDEC) with the help of Zoo and Parks Department staff and Texas Parks and Wildlife  began in 2005 and has been growing in popularity throughout the years. Not long after, CDEC with the support of city staff, helped to sponsor and organize the first Poppies Fest which over time played a major role in gaining support for the establishment of Castner Range National Monument.

The City of El Paso recently adopted a resolution calling on the community to celebrate International Chihuahuan Desert Celebration Day this year on September 27 and each year thereafter on 4th Saturday of September.

Ticket Information: Fiesta celebration events at the zoo will be included as part of the regular entrance fee. Fee information can be found at: http://www.elpasozoo.org.
