It’s FIESTA 2023 planning time! The Chihuahuan Desert Education Coalition (CDEC), in partnership with the El Paso Zoo and Botanical Gardens and the Tom Mays Unit of the Franklin Mountain State Park, are seeking assistance with the 2023 Chihuahuan Desert Fiesta. The event will take place this fall on September 23rd and 24th. This year’s event will be held on two different days at two different locations.
The kick-off event day will be held on Saturday, September 23rd at the El Paso Zoo with tabling in the Chihuahuan Desert Exhibit and programs and entertainment in the Wildlife Amphitheater and interpretive hikes at Tom Mays on Sunday, September 24th.
CDEC would like to invite past participating educators as well as new educators to join the event and share how they contribute to the preservation and education of our home, the Chihuahuan Desert. With the Chihuahuan Desert Exhibit as the focus of this event, we would like to invite you to provide information to zoo visitors via education booths and tables. We are seeking interpretive hike leaders for the second date of this event. If you would like to share stories of our native plants, animals, unique geology, natural history or the many unique recreational opportunities our area has to offer, please contact us.
If you are interested in contributing to this event through an education table, volunteering to lead a guided tour at the Tom Mays unit, or helping with the planning process, please contact me at 360-910-2030 or cdec.fiesta@gmail.com. If your organization is ready to commit and participate in this event, please complete the following participation agreement at: https://forms.gle/9ixqTCCU7wiTKVrC8
Feel free to reach out with any questions or additional information.
