CDEC marks 20th Year with plans for membership, conference and fiesta event

*CDEC sponsored the first El Paso Chihuahuan Desert Conference in 2010 at the Tech H20 Learning Center. Two other conferences were hosted at the El Paso Zoo and Botanical Gardens in 2019 and 2023*

Thanks for your interest in the Chihuahuan Desert Education Coalition. We are an all- volunteer organization, and you can read our vision and mission statements here.

To accomplish our mission, we hope to launch a membership program this fall so that we can raise enough money to hire an Executive Director. Other big goals include hosting the 20th annual Chihuahuan Desert fiesta in September and planning another Chihuahuan Desert conference in 2026.

We are very excited about the future of the organization as we make major progress in finding volunteers to help us accomplish our goals, especially in expanding our influence in Mexico. Our current 25-member Board of Directors is made up of 9 members from Mexico.
