Meet the “Voices” at the Chihuahuan Desert Fiesta 2025

Voces de la Ciencia Juarense

On September 27 starting at 10:30 am, we invite you to explore the different
educational booths dedicated to the Chihuahuan Desert, science, and much more at the Chihuahuan Desert Fiesta at the El Paso Zoo and Botanical Gardens. It will be a day full of knowledge, conservation, and community.

But who are the groups that will be there?

In addition to groups in El Paso this year you’ll get to meet five active members from Ciudad Juárez, all part of the Voces de la Ciencia Juarense network—a collective of science communicators committed to bringing science and environmental education to the border community.

Among them are:

Sociedad Geocientífica del Desierto Chihuahuense: Young geologists who, together with children and youth, lead science outreach activities such as workshops, talks, and guided tours to bring Earth Sciences closer to the public.

Sociedad Científica Juvenil – Cd. Juárez: Members of a national Mexican
organization founded in 1986. They promote science through workshops, courses, social media content, and events aimed at the general public.

For Greener Learning: A group of women scientists dedicated to science outreach and promoting environmental culture. They use games, participatory activities, and educational workshops to bring science to the community in an accessible, creative, and safe way, helping people face today’s environmental challenges.

Bioexperimenta: A civil association made up of young volunteer biologists who give talks, workshops, exhibitions, and activities to raise environmental awareness through science.

Electronode: A group focused on STEM education and the development of wireless technology. They work on solutions for industries such as logistics and agriculture and also organize summer courses for children covering basic electronics, robotics, programming, and hydroponics.

All of these groups share the same passion: bringing science, environmental education, and outreach to the border community, inspiring children, youth, and adults alike to embrace knowledge and care for our environment.
