Desert Discovery Camps

The Frontera Land Alliance is offering Desert Discovery Camps, at no cost to families, for youth ages 11-14 this June. These camps are a partnership with Texas Parks and Wildlife and are funded through a COOP grant from TPWD. The purpose of the COOP grant is to instill in youth an interest in outdoor recreation, an understanding of Leave No Trace Principles, and basic knowledge of environmental science.

Key Information

Dates:
Session 1: June 8-12
Session 2: June 15-19

Each session lasts Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM-12:30 PM each day. Participants may sign up for ONE session only.

Location:
Franklin Mountains State Park Headquarters

Who:
Youth ages 11-14

What:
 Daily guided hikes with park rangers
 Educational projects incorporating STEAM
 Exploring careers in conservation
