We have exciting plans for 2025!

The CDEC board meets monthly to discuss important topics, make plans, and talk about how to better conserve our Chihuahuan Desert. This past month, we had our first meeting of the year and made some big plans, so keep your eyes open for new events and more.

The Chihuahuan Desert is a wild mix of stunning sights—big open plains soaking in the sun, rough mountains, and secret little spots full of life. It’s has a crazy variety of plants and animals, many of which you can’t find anywhere else on the planet. As a result this place is both super cool and pretty fragile. The road ahead is rough since habitat loss, climate change, and what humans are up to is really messing with its vibe.

This 2025 we are looking to launch and promote our membership program with great enthusiasm and dedication. By joining our conservation efforts as a CDEC member, you can play a vital role in protecting this unique ecosystem for future generations, ensuring that the beauty and diversity of nature are preserved for those who come after us. You will be learning about various ways to actively participate in our initiatives, from volunteering opportunities to educational workshops that teach you about local wildlife and habitat restoration. Our board is brainstorming innovative ideas to make our member program more appealing to a broader audience, exploring incentives maybe exclusive events, educational resources, and community engagement activities that will enrich the experiences of our members while fostering a strong sense of community and shared purpose. Together, we can create a lasting impact and inspire others to join our cause.

Our big event for 2025 will be the 21st Annual Chihuahuan Desert Fiesta the weekend of September 27. We had a big turnout last year, which was a fantastic experience, but this year, we want to make it even bigger and better. Imagine the lively atmosphere as we celebrate together, sharing our cultures and love for the Chihuahuan Desert! Who knows, we might even attract participants from abroad, further enriching our FIESTA with diverse perspectives and experiences. It’s important to keep an eye on this spectacular event as we finalize the details, ensuring everyone understands what’s in store. Together, we’ll celebrate our shared commitment to protecting our environment while enjoying a great time with friends and family.

Last but not least. Our board of directors suggests we do something really big, how big? Maybe as big as the Chihuahuan Desert. I don’t want to spill the beans, but if you love our Chihuahuan Desert and want to ensure its here for our future generations you better stay tuned and join our efforts.
