Join us on May 28 – how to plant a pollinator garden

Dr. Paul Hyder will be the featured speaker at the Chihuahuan Desert Education Coalition meeting on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at 7pm

CDEC encourages people in our city to conserve the Chihuahuan Desert is by planning a pollinator garden. Pollinators like butterflies, bees, hummingbirds and other animals that pollinate plants need our help. Pollinators support us, but their future is uncertain. Many are in decline worldwide, largely due to habitat loss, pesticide poisoning, disease, and introduced species.

Dr. Paul Hyder is a local expert on insects and will speak at the El Paso Water Discovery Education Center at the Zoo. Seating is limited and reservations are required. Please reserve your seat and sign up here:

Dr. Hyder is recently retired from teaching High School Science at Eastwood High school. He now spends his time working in environmental education and as instructor for the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife’s Master Naturalist Program where he teaches General Ecology, Invertebrate Zoology/Ecology, Desert Ecology, Herpetology, Citizen Science, Mammalian Ecology, and Ecoregions of Texas. He is also an Affiliate Researcher at UTEP, where he works on invertebrate conservation.
